The Public Service Ombudsman for Wales has reported the busiest year in the office’s 20-year history, with a record rise in complaints about public services and councillor conduct across Wales. In their Annual Report for 2025-26, the office say how they received 4,507 duly made complaints across its public services and Code of Conduct remits – 27% more than last year, 47% more than three years ago, and three times as many as 20 years ago.

On 2 September, the Riigikogu elected Chancellor of Justice Ülle Madise as President of the Republic of Estonia in the first round of the presidential election. Madise received the support of 71 members of the Riigikogu in a secret ballot. At least 68 votes were needed to be elected. Madise will continue as Chancellor of Justice until she takes the oath of office as President of the Republic on 12 October.

The Office of the Ombudsman Punjab has secured financial relief amounting to Rs64.1 million for citizens by taking effective action on complaints lodged against the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA).

On 20 August 2026, Mr Raj Kishore Ramsaha was appointed as Ombudsman of the Republic of Mauritius by His Excellency the President. He took the oath before the Supreme Court and assumed duty as Ombudsman on 31 August 2026.
