Following the successful completion of the first two sessions, the Office of the Ombudsman Punjab hosted batch 3 of the International Internship Programme 2026 from 27–31 July 2026, welcoming three international participants from African Ombudsman institutions. The participants included Mr. Godfrey Lewanika, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, Office of the Public Protector, Zambia; Ms. Lwandisa Zaula, Outreach Coordinator, Public Protector South Africa; and Mr. Philani Mkize, Business Analyst, Public Protector South Africa.

El Defensor del Pueblo ha iniciado una actuación de oficio para conocer las medidas adoptadas y pendientes de adopción, por parte de las diferentes administraciones, para dar respuesta, de manera coordinada, a la crisis humanitaria que vive la ciudad autónoma de Ceuta tras el cruce irregular de la frontera de El Tarajal de más de 70.000 personas, los pasados 30 y 31 de julio.

The Office of the Ombudsman has announced that its annual thematic lecture will be held on 29 October 2026 in the Plenary Hall of the House of Representatives under the patronage of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Hon. Carmelo Abela. This year’s lecture, entitled “Mental health risks and concerns: strategic goals and best practices for prevention, treatment and care”, will bring together three internationally renowned experts in mental health.

The Human Rights Ombudsman of the Republic of Slovenia (the Ombudsman) has once again received several complaints this summer highlighting inadequate conditions caused by high temperatures in various institutions. Based on these complaints and as part of the activities of the National Preventive Mechanism (NPM), the Ombudsman has already assessed conditions in some institutions and taken temperature readings. It will conduct several more such visits in the coming days.
