La Institución del Procurador de los Derechos Humanos por medio de la Defensoría de Personas con Discapacidad, en conjunto con el Consejo Nacional para la Atención de las Personas con Discapacidad, llevó a cabo la presentación del informe acerca de opiniones de sociedad civil que se contempló en tres Encuentros Nacionales de Incidencia para la Creación del Mecanismo de Supervisión de la Convención sobre los Derechos de las Personas con Discapacidad, en la Ciudad de Guatemala.

From 20 to 22 October 2025, the IOI hosted its first media training for its French-speaking members in collaboration with the renowned British media agency Media First. Participants from Africa, Europe and North-America learned different techniques to successfully perform in a TV or print interview and had the opportunity to apply their theoretical knowledge by practicing with a journalist trainer as well as a newly developed AI coach.

Du 20 au 22 octobre 2025, l'IIO a organisé sa première formation aux médias pour ses membres francophones, en collaboration avec la renommée agence média britannique Media First. Les participant(e)s venus d'Afrique, d'Europe et d'Amérique du Nord ont appris différentes techniques pour réussir une interview télévisée ou écrite et ont eu l'occasion de mettre en pratique leurs connaissances théoriques en s'entraînant avec un journaliste formateur ainsi qu'avec un coach IA nouvellement développé.

The IOI is pleased to continue the successful training series for Ombudsman with NPM mandate. The next NPM training will be hosted by the Office of the Parliamentary Ombud of Norway and held in Oslo from 9 – 11 February 2026. It will be delivered by the APT and deal with mental health in detention, as well as creating change for NPMs who have been monitoring for years. Save the Date!

Del 20 al 22 de octubre de 2025, el IIO organizó la primera formación en medios de comunicación para sus miembros francófonos en colaboración con la reconocida agencia de comunicación británica Media First. Los participantes, procedentes de África, Europa y América del Norte, aprendieron diferentes técnicas para desenvolverse con éxito en una entrevista televisiva o escrita y tuvieron la oportunidad de poner en práctica sus conocimientos teóricos con un periodista y un entrenador de IA desarrollado por Media First.

The Catalan deputy for the defence of children's and adolescents' rights, Aida C. Rodríguez, has been elected president-elect of the European Network of Ombudspersons for Children (ENOC) for the 2025/2026 term. The election and assumption of office took place during the 29th General Assembly in Bucharest, Romania. Next year, the deputy will assume the presidency of the Bureau and Catalonia will organise and host the 30th ENOC General Assembly.

On 9 October 2025, the Ombudsman, Mr Jack Chan, announced the completion of a direct investigation operation into the respite services for supporting carers of elderly persons and persons with disabilities, with 25 major recommendations for improvement made to the Social Welfare Department (“SWD”).

Marie-France Pelletier, Ombud for New Brunswick, released a special investigation report on the use of restraints in psychiatric facilities in New Brunswick, calling for changes to address systemic issues in psychiatric and mental health care in the province.
