The Office of the Ombudsman Punjab has secured financial relief amounting to Rs64.1 million for citizens by taking effective action on complaints lodged against the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA).

On 20 August 2026, Mr Raj Kishore Ramsaha was appointed as Ombudsman of the Republic of Mauritius by His Excellency the President. He took the oath before the Supreme Court and assumed duty as Ombudsman on 31 August 2026.

On 31 August 2026, the IOI General Secretariat successfully conducted its first webinar on the IOI’s Regional Subsidy Program. Participants were informed about the application process and the necessary steps. Applications for the 2026/2027 Regional Subsidy Program may be submitted until 30 September 2026.

The Ombudsman, Mr Jack Chan, announced on 31 August 2026 the completion of a direct investigation operation into the unsuccessful delivery of electronic tax returns submitted by members of the public to the Inland Revenue Department, with 18 improvement recommendations made to IRD. IRD has accepted all the recommendations.

On 28 August 2026, the NSW Ombudsman published a report highlighting the NSW Department of Communities and Justice’s (DCJ) wrong conduct in handling reports made to it raising concerns about children not yet born. The report, titled ‘The Department of Communities and Justice’s practice of responding to pre-natal reports’, follows the February 2026 report, which detailed the investigation of DCJ’s handling of ‘risk of significant harm’ reports about children and young people.
