The Parliamentary Ombudsman, Judge Joseph Zammit McKeon, presented the Ombudsplan 2026 to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Anglu Farrugia. The Ombudsplan is the annual policy and financial framework of the Office of the Ombudsman. It sets out the Office’s objectives for the coming year, highlights systemic challenges within the public administration, and includes the request for funding required to support the institution’s work.

To mark 40 years of the Office of the Ombudsman of the Republic of Ireland, the Ombudsman has published a book looking back on 40 key cases and investigations about public bodies that the Office carried out since it was established in 1984.

Ces difficultés structurelles compromettent l'accès effectif à l'éducation pour tous et appellent des réformes en profondeur pour garantir le droit fondamental de chaque enfant à une scolarité réussie.

A moment of pride and honour for Pakistan, Ombudsman Punjab has been elected as the Second Vice-President of the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI), becoming the first-ever Pakistani Ombudsman to hold this global position.

On July 1, 2025 the State Comptroller and Ombudsman of Israel, Mr. Matanyahu Englman, presented to the Speaker of the Knesset (Israeli parliament) the Ombudsman Annual Report 51 for the year 2024. Nearly 22,000 complaints were received in 2024 representing an increase of 50% compared with 2019.

The positions of the two IOI Vice-Presidents became vacant earlier this year and the IOI General Secretariat held an electronic ballot to fill these vacancies. The deadline for voting ended on 19 August 2025 and the newly elected Vice-Presidents are Ms. Nadine Mailloux, Ombudsman of Montreal (Canada) and Ms. Ayesha Hamid, Ombudsman of the Province of Punjab (Pakistan).
