The IOI Board of Directors held its annual meeting in Willemstad (Curaçao) from 10 – 14 May 2026. The meeting was generously hosted by the Office of the Ombudsman of Curaçao and provided the perfect setting for productive meetings.

The Commission on Administrative Justice - Office of the Ombudsman, Kenya successfully implemented the fourth phase of the Ombudsman Mashinani initiative between March and May 2026 across Nairobi County’s informal settlements with support from the International Ombudsman Institute. The initiative brought free Ombudsman services closer to underserved communities, significantly enhancing access to administrative justice at the grassroots level.

Ombudsman Toronto handled 4,326 cases in 2025 — a 78 per cent increase since 2020 — stepping in to help people facing unfair treatment by the City of Toronto amid tough economic times and ongoing housing pressures. The 2025 annual report highlights the growing demand for oversight and accountability during a period of increasing social and economic pressures. Over the past year, the office helped an increasing number of residents, community groups and City staff to resolve fairness issues with City services.

With the ample support of the IOI regarding awareness campaign activities, a one day Awareness Campaign session was held in the Conference room of the district secretariat Malakand on 06 May 2026 at 11.00 A.M. Due to the awareness campaign, the audience was informed about the role and responsibilities of the Ombudsman Institution.
