El Defensor del Pueblo de España, Ángel Gabilondo y el Ararteko (Defensor del Pueblo del País Vasco), Manuel Lezertua, han recordado, con ocasión del Día Internacional de Concienciación sobre el Ruido, la importancia de abordar el problema ambiental derivado del ocio, tras recibir una queja de la Asociación de Vecinos Uribitarte Anaitasuna, de Bilbao.

Rosemary Agnew, one of Scotland’s leading public figures, has called for legislative reforms as she prepares to step down after eight years as the Scottish Public Services Ombudsman (SPSO). Throughout her time leading the organisation, she has repeatedly highlighted the need to modernise SPSO legislation to enable the Ombudsman to better serve the public and improve accountability in public services. Significantly, she has called for changes in how complaints are made to the SPSO and the ability to investigate complaints under her own initiative.

Every year, the Ombudsman submits a report to the Riksdag. It is a report on the authority's activities in the previous year, together with a selection of the ombudsmen's decisions. In accordance with the instructions of the Riksdag's ombudsmen, the Ombudsman must submit a report to the Riksdag by 15 March each year for the period 1 January - 31 December of the previous year. The summary of the report is now available in English.

On 16 April 2025, the Ombudsman, Mr Jack Chan, announced the completion of a direct investigation operation into the Government’s regulation of occupational safety and health in the construction industry, with 40 major recommendations for improvement made to the Labour Department, the Buildings Department and the Development Bureau.

Under the Inspector of Detention Services Act 2022 (IDS Act) the Queensland Ombudsman, Mr Anthony Reilly, is also the Inspector of Detention Services (Inspector). Under the IDS Act, the Inspector must inspect each prison in Queensland every five years and release a report about the inspection. The report makes 37 recommendations for areas of improvement for the women’s prison.

El 8 de abril de 2025, la síndica de greuges de Cataluña, Esther Giménez-Salinas, y la adjunta de infancia, Aida C. Rodríguez han presentado el informe La universalización del ocio educativo en Catalunya que analiza los cambios que se han producido en el ámbito del ocio en los últimos diez años. El informe concluye que ha habido avances en la garantía del derecho al ocio pero que no se ha producido ningún cambio sustancial.

Durante el año 2024 se han llevado a cabo un total de 14.608 actuaciones (cifra ligeramente superior al año anterior), de las cuales 4.310 corresponden a expedientes de queja y consultas y 28 a expedientes de oficio. En 2024 se han consolidado las relaciones internacionales del Ararteko con otras defensorías y con organismos de defensa de los derechos humanos, con la participación en la conferencia y asamblea general del Instituto Internacional del Ombudsman, y con los encuentros del Ararteko con autoridades del Consejo de Europa.

Mercredi 9 avril 2025, le Défenseur des droits publie une étude sur les pratiques de la police nationale en région parisienne qui met en évidence une politique publique d’éviction de l’espace public de personnes considérées comme indésirables. Cette étude a été conduite par les chercheuses Aline Daillère et Magda Boutros (Sciences-po : CRIS/CESDIP) à la demande du Défenseur des droits.
