Ms Parys met with Curacao Ombudsman, Mr Concincion, during her holiday
The Flemish Ombudsman, Myriam Parys, met with her colleague Keursly Concincion, the Ombudsman of Curaçao, during her holiday on the island. Ombudsmen from around the world are part of a close-knit network, organized by region, continent, and internationally through the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI).
During their conversation, it became clear that ombuds institutions around the world often face similar challenges. Citizens everywhere are looking for the same things: a government that is reliable, accessible, and service-oriented.
It is a good reminder that citizens' concerns are often similar across the globe. And that ombuds institutions share the same mission everywhere: to listen, mediate, and help build trust between citizens and government.
