On 29 October 2025, IOI Secretary General Bernhard Achitz welcomed the recently elected Regional Director for the IOI’s Caribbean and Latin American Region and Ombudsman of Panama, Mr Eduardo Leblanc Gonzalez, to Vienna. Goal of this meeting was to exchange experiences and find best practices with colleagues from all around the world.

Tras haber sido admitido como miembro extrarregional de la Federación Iberoamericana del Ombudsperson (FIO) durante la 28.ª Asamblea General celebrada el año pasado en Asunción, Paraguay, el Yuan de Control organizó este año (2025) una delegación para asistir al 29.ª Asamblea General y el 30.º Congreso de la FIO, celebrado en Perú. El tema del congreso de este año, que llevó por lema “Un Estado fuerte nace de una sociedad con derechos”, se desarrolló del 6 al 11 de octubre en las ciudades peruanas de Cusco y Lima.

On 30 October 2025, the NSW Ombudsman has tabled its Annual Report 2024–25 and the NSW Child Death Review Team (CDRT) Annual Report 2024–25 in the Parliament of NSW. 

The Office of the Ombudsman of Malta celebrated its 30th Anniversary with an international conference held under the theme “Upholding Good Governance in Challenging Times: The Role of the Ombudsman” on 15–16 October 2025.

According to Deputy-Ombudsman Mikko Sarja, the equal right of children in prisons to free basic education must be safeguarded, and completing compulsory education must be possible for them. Their imprisonment does not limit these rights. The importance of this issue is underlined by the fact that underage remand prisoners and children who are serving a prison sentence are a very vulnerable group of children.

Based on their experience, monitoring, and indirect involvement in governance over recent years, the People’s Advocates have identified 9 key directions that can help strengthen democracy, improve governance, and protect human rights.

Los titulares de las defensorías del pueblo, reunidos en Zaragoza en sus XXXVIII Jornadas de Coordinación, instan a las administraciones públicas a revisar e intensificar las medidas preventivas contra el acoso escolar para mejorar su eficacia y han solicitado que se dote a la figura del coordinador o coordinadora de bienestar y protección del alumnado de todos los recursos necesarios para el debido cumplimiento de sus funciones.
