Chancellor of Justice Indrek Teder has sent a proposal to Pärnu-Jaagupi Nursing Home that they stop locking the doors of patients’ rooms. The Chancellor of Justice emphasises that Pärnu-Jaagupi Nursing Home and other similar institutions have no legal grounds to lock people in their rooms.

The Control Yuan (CY) celebrated its 83^rd anniversary on 5 February 2014. The celebration was held at the CY meeting hall and joined by current and former CY members, auditor-generals and CY advisors.

Two complainants approached the Provincial Ombudsman Sindh with their concern that the Health Department Government of Sindh had discontinued the polio vaccination of children under the Immunization Programme.

The Pacific Ombudsman Alliance issued its latest Newsletter in February 2014. This edition includes reports on the Samoan Ombudsman’s successful launch of its human rights function, as well as news and updates regarding the POA’s activities in the Marshall Islands, the Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea and Vanuatu.

The Catalan Ombudsman, Rafael Ribó, who has handed in the Annual Report 2013, has underlined the need to protect social policies, the defence of which has led to several actions carried out by the institution.

The workshop will be opened with a dinner on Tuesday 29 April, to provide a networking opportunity for all participants. It will be organised by the Queen Margaret University jointly with the Centre for Socio-Legal Studies at Oxford University and the Foundation for Law, Justice and Society.
