Uzbekistan | Uzbek Senate elects new ombudsman

The Senate of Uzbekistan on May 15 elected Ulugbek Mukhammadiev as ombudsman of Oliy Majlis, Trend’s correspondent in Tashkent, who was present at the plenary session of the upper house of the parliament, said.

Ulugbek Mukhammadiev, born in 1971, until now was the Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs and Inter-parliamentary Relations of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan. He is also a member of the Democratic Party of Uzbekistan Milliy Tiklanish (National Revival).

Prior to this, Sayyora Rashidova, a famous scientist, was ombudsman since 1995, when the institution of ombudsman was first introduced in the country.
