Ombudsman issues guidance on housing allocations for Disabled people
Councils’ housing allocations schemes is the subject of the Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman’s third practical guide for housing officers to help improve services for Disabled people. The latest guide highlights issues Disabled people face when applying to councils’ housing schemes, and the changes local councils can make to improve those services.

With 123 votes in favour, 92 against and 5 abstentions, MPs elected Velislava Delcheva as the new Ombudsman of the Republic of Bulgaria. She was supported by the votes of GERB-SDS, BSP-United Left, ITN, DPS-New Beginning, and four independent MPs.

Following submission of his 51st Annual Report 2024 to His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Mauritius, Mr Harry Ganoo, G.O.S.K, Ombudsman launched his report, covering the period of 1 January to 31 December 2024 on 10 July 2025 to the Press during an event held at the Conference Room of the Ombudsman’s Office in the presence of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs responsible for Human Rights.

On Thursday, 10 July 2025, the Ombudsperson, Mr. Naim Qelaj, visited the village of Leshak in Leposavic and met with the residents who submitted their complaints regarding the notification by the municipal authorities for the release of public property on which 12 houses are built.

The Honourable Ombudsman Punjab was honoured to represent Pakistan at the 4th General Assembly of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Ombudsman Association, held in Iran. This significant multilateral event brought together ombudsman institutions from across the Islamic world to exchange knowledge, share innovative practices, and strengthen cooperation in upholding justice and accountability.

Le 26 juin 2025, la Cour européenne des droits de l’homme (CEDH) a pour la première fois condamné la France pour des contrôles d’identité jugés discriminatoires, subis par un jeune homme de 21 ans. L’arrêt de la CEDH marque l’aboutissement d’une procédure débutée en 2012 devant les juridictions françaises. Le Défenseur des droits avait présenté des observations devant la cour d’appel de Paris, la Cour de cassation puis devant la CEDH en 2022 et en 2024.
