The Commissioner for Administration and the Protection of Human Rights, Mrs. Maria Stylianou-Lottides, submitted today, on January 15, 2025, to the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Nicos Christodoulides, the Annual Report of her Office for the year 2023, as well as the individual Annual Reports detailing the work and action of the Office under the mandates of the Commissioner as the Equality Body and the National Preventive Mechanism (NPM).

El Defensor del Pueblo acaba de iniciar una actuación de oficio por la que solicita información al Ministerio de Educación, Formación Profesional y Deporte, y a las consejerías de Educación, para conocer qué actuaciones se están llevando a cabo en los distintos territorios para lograr la inclusión educativa del alumnado gitano en condiciones de igualdad con el resto de la población. The Northern Ireland Public Services Ombudsman (NIPSO) recently held a roundtable event as part of its project examining how ombudspersons can help improve access to justice for refugees and asylum seekers.

On 22 Januar 2025, the Ombudsman, Mr Jack Chan, announced the completion of a direct investigation operation into the Government’s work in combating the abuse of public housing resources, with 31 major recommendations for improvement made to the Hong Kong Housing Authority and the Hong Kong Housing Society.

Applications are sought from suitably qualified individuals who wish to be considered for the role of the next Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman. The closing date for receipt of completed applications is Monday, 10 February 2025.

For the first time in history, all the countries within the Kingdom of the Netherlands have an ombudsman, and for the first time, they convened in Aruba. The meeting took place from 13 till 15 January 2025.
