2019-07-25El Centro de Mediación de la Defensoría del Pueblo de Santa Fe cumple 24 años
Este viernes 5 de julio el Centro de Mediación y Resolución de Conflictos que funciona dentro del ámbito de la Defensoría del Pueblo de la provincia de Santa Fe, Argentina, cumple 24 años de vida. Comenzó a funcionar en 1995, siendo el primero en su tipo en la República Argentina, cuando sus nueve primeros mediadores, que contaban con títulos expedidos por el Ministerio de Justicia de la Nación, fueron matriculados en el Registro Nacional de Mediadores de ese organismo nacional, creado con el fin de poder implementar una ley nacional de mediación.

Fourteen representatives from seven Pacific countries will undertake Ombudsman investigator training in Fiji next week. The Office of the New Zealand Ombudsman is leading the training which will take a typical complaint through the whole investigation process.

The Seimas Ombudspersons' Office published a Report on the National Prevention of Torture, which presents key observations and provides recommendations and changes achieved in 2022. The inspections of the places of detention identified in the report have revealed substantial violations of human rights and freedoms and other systemic problems.

IOI took part in side event at the UN High-Level Political Forum 2019 on SDGs
As part of the UN High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development in New York (9 July – 18 July 2019) the Permanent Missions of Austria and Malaysia to the United Nations in New York hosted a side event coving the topic of “Protecting the Rule of Law & Human Rights and Advancing Access to Justice”. Parliamentarians for Global Action (PGA) organized the event content-wise and invited several renowned officials to speak and debate about actions and strategies to protect the human rights of democracy activists, to ensure that the “Rule of Law” is “human rights’ centered” under SDG Goal 16 and the role of Ombudsman institutions in this context.

Se requiere el trabajo articulado y el compromiso de funcionarios y funcionarias públicas en la erradicación del machismo y la lucha contra la violencia hacia la mujer, afirmó el Defensor del Pueblo, Walter Gutiérrez, durante la presentación del informe de la Segunda Supervisión Nacional efectuada por la institución, entre octubre y noviembre de 2018, a 326 Centros Emergencia Mujer – CEM en todo el país.

Le 13 et 14 juin 2019 s’est tenu, au siège de l’institution du Médiateur de la République à Porto-Novo, un séminaire d’appropriation de la loi 2017-43 du 02 juillet 2018 portant régime juridique d’emploi des collaborateurs externes de l’Etat et les lois modificatives du Statut Général de la Fonction Publique au profit des cadres du Médiateur de la République.

Office of the Ombudsman and Anti-Corruption Commission sign memorandum of understanding
The Ombudsman of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Leon Jenkins-Johnston Esq. and the Commissioner of the Anti-Corruption Commission Francis Ben-Kaifala Esq. have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on behalf of the two institutions. The aim of the MOU is to foster collaboration among the two institutions in the fight against Corruption, Administrative Injustice and Maladministration in the Public service.
