Ombudsman Gwendolien Mossel recently concluded the Systemic Investigation into the tendering and awarding process of the Solid Waste Collection 2021-2026. After providing a Preliminary Findings Report (PFR) on 11 April 2022, the Final Report (FR) was submitted on 27 June 2022 to the Minister of Public Housing, Spatial Planning, Environment, and Infrastructure (VROMI).

Michael DeSilva, Ombudsman for Bermuda, has submitted his Annual Report for 2021 to the Speaker of the House of Assembly in accordance with his statutory duty under the Ombudsman Act 2004. The Report was tabled in the House of Assembly this morning and is now available to the public.

On 5 July 2022, Mr. Werner Amon resigned from his posts as Ombudsman of the Republic of Austria and consequently, as IOI Secretary General due to a new professional opportunity in his home State of Styria, where he took on the position of Minister for European and International Affairs, Education, and Human Resources of the State of Styria.

2021 Report: Cases handled rise 6% to a new high
In 2021, a record volume of 12,219 new cases were processed, as a result of a 6% annual increase in the number of complaints admitted. Based on 2017, the beginning of the first mandate of the current Ombudsman, Maria Lúcia Amaral, the accumulated growth in the number of new complaints processed is 57%.

The Control Yuan (CY) Transportation and Procurement Affairs Committee has reviewed and approved an investigation report pointing out that traffic accidents have long been the leading cause of fatal injuries among children in Taiwan. The population of children in Taiwan has experienced negative growth for two consecutive years.
