L'Ombudsman de Montréal, Me Nadine Mailloux, a déposé le 16 juin 2025 son rapport annuel 2024 au conseil municipal. Avec 2 164 dossiers traités, 192 enquêtes lancées, dont 50 de sa propre initiative, et 16 engagements obtenus de la part de la Ville, l'année 2024 illustre, une fois de plus, la pertinence et l'efficacité de cette instance indépendante qui veille à ce que les Montréalais et Montréalaises obtiennent les services auxquels ils ont droit, et que leur confiance dans la capacité de la Ville de corriger le tir quand c'est nécessaire soit restaurée.

El Pacto está impulsado por la institución del Síndic de Greuges de Cataluña y el Departamento de Educación, junto con la mayoría de municipios de más de 5.000 habitantes, y miembros de la comunidad educativa y del arco parlamentario e institucional.

2025-06-12Thailand Marks 25th Anniversary of Ombudsman Institution with National and International Seminar
To commemorate the 25th Anniversary of its establishment, the Office of the Ombudsman of Thailand hosted a seminar from 24–25 April 2025 at the Centara Life Government Complex Hotel and Convention Centre in Bangkok. The event reaffirmed the Ombudsman’s commitment to a proactive, people-centered approach and brought together stakeholders from government, civil society, and international organizations. To commemorate this milestone, the Office of the Ombudsman of Thailand published a special 25th Anniversary commemorative volume, featuring congratulatory messages and insightful contributions on successful stories from leading Ombudsman institutions across the globe. This publication, supported by the IOI Regional Subsidy Programme 2024/2025, reflects the shared commitment to the values of good governance as well as rights and liberties protection.

2025-06-06El Defensor del Pueblo de Navarra advierte sobre “la desigualdad en el cumplimiento de plazos” entre la ciudadanía y la Administración
El Defensor del Pueblo de Navarra-Nafarroako Arartekoa, Patxi Vera, compareció el 14 de abril de 2025 ante la Comisión de Régimen Foral del Parlamento de Navarra para presentar el ‘Informe Anual 2024’ elaborado por su institución. Una intervención en la que Vera advirtió a los representantes de las distintas formaciones políticas presentes en la Cámara Foral de los peligros que puede entrañar una Administración “cada vez más asimétrica y menos equitativa”.

2025-06-06CY Issues Correction to Hsinchu County Government for Dereliction of Duty in Blocking Legal Residents’ Passage
A legally constructed building located on a road section in Guanxi township, Hsinchu County has been placed with various barriers and obstacles in front of its entrance by perpetrators since 2020. Despite repeated petitions from the residents, the Hsinchu County Government failed to provide an appropriate response. The Control Yuan members Lin Yu-Jung and Shih Chin-Fang conducted an investigation and concluded that the Hsinchu County Government was derelict in its duties.

Marc-André Dowd, a rendu public le 4 juin 2025 un rapport d’enquête intitulé Directeur de l’état civil – Accélérer la transmission des certificats de décès, par respect pour les citoyens. Le Protecteur du citoyen recommande des actions durables pour garantir des délais acceptables dans la transmission des certificats de décès.

2025-06-06Provincial Ombudsman, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pakistan visited district Torghar, Battagram and Kolai Palas
After successfully conducting the awareness campaign under the regional subsidy 2021-22 in District Hangu and Thall, another campaign was organized in three far-flung districts i.e. Battagram,Torghar and Kolai Palas. All the three districts are located in hilly and backward areas of the province. As per instructions of Ombudsman Syed Jamalud Din Shah, the awareness sessions were organized in District Administration Halls for public elected representatives like Nazimeen, Naib Nazimeen and Village Councilors. The purpose of the awareness session was to communicate the message of the Ombudsman about this prestigious Institution regarding the role and responsibilities of the Provincial Ombudsman Institution and how they can benefit from this Institution free of cost.

The IOI introduced a publication series of Best Practice Papers (BPPs) with a view to providing guidance material for strong and independent Ombudsman institutions. Revised versions of two papers of this publication series, namely the BPP on ‘Developing and Reforming Ombudsman Institutions’ and the BPP on ‘Dealing with challenging behaviour’ are now available on the IOI Website.
