International Ombudsman community mourns death of Ombudsman Cissé
It is with great sadness that the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI) has learned of the passing of Maître Alioune Badara Cissé, Ombudsman of Senegal. Mr Cissé died on 28 August 2021 in Dakar at the age of 63. The IOI expresses its heartfelt condolences. Our thoughts go out to Mr Cissé’s family and friends, his colleagues and staff.

Los derechos políticos de las personas privadas de la libertad condenadas
En 2016 la Cámara Nacional Electoral declaró inconstitucional la prohibición de voto para las personas condenadas. A 5 años de esa sentencia, la situación no ha cambiado y aproximadamente unas 6 mil personas privadas de libertad en el ámbito federal siguen sin acceder a su derecho a sufragar. La Procuración Penitenciaria de la Nación sigue trabajando para que se realicen las modificaciones legales pertinentes e incorporar así a las personas detenidas condenadas al Padrón Electoral.

The country is in the worst epidemiological situation, due to which dozens of people die every day. In the current situation, accelerating vaccination is essential to save the lives of our citizens. Recently, many citizens and organizations have addressed the Public Defender's Office with questions about whether they violate the rights of a person when they request to present a vaccination document in labour relations, services, health care, education or other areas and whether such a practice is discriminatory.
