Control Yuan urges three-level prevention of sexual assaults of children and youths
The protection of the rights of children and youths in Taiwan should be in line with international standards, and the securing of their personal safety is an even more pressing concern. To effectively prevent these young people suffering sexual assaults, Control Yuan (CY) urged the government to examine the existing mechanisms by launching an investigation entitled “Discussion on the Effectiveness of the Government’s Implementation of Preventing the Sexual Assault of Children and Youths.”

Outgoing Ombudsman calls for review of Ombudsman Act
Outgoing Ombudsman Peter Tyndall has called for a review of the Ombudsman Act. Speaking today [30 September 2021] at the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Public Petitions, the Ombudsman said that the legislation, which dates back to 1980, should be replaced with a more modern, fit for purpose alternative, in line with the United Nations endorsed Venice Principles - the global standard for public service Ombudsman institutions.

PDH recibe denuncia en casos de criminalización a familias indígenas
El 20 de septiembre, el personal de la Auxiliatura de Quiché, de la Procuraduría de los Derechos Humanos (PDH), recibió una denuncia presentada por representantes del Comité Campesino del Altiplano (CCA), en casos de criminalización que sufren las familias indígenas de las comunidades de Pomarrosal, Granada Uno y Tierra Linda, de la Zona Reyna, departamento de Quiché, por la disputa de tierras.

Ombudsman releases Annual Report 2020
Ombudsman John Walters bids farewell with the offices Annaul Report 2020 - a year which was, without a doubt, the most significant year. On 21 March Namibia celebrated its 30th Independence Anniversary with the Covid-19 pandemic on our doorsteps. Despite the challenges brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic, the Office managed to comply with its statutory duties and to commemorate 30 years of Ombudsmanship in Namibia with the publication of a 30th Anniversary Commemorative Book.
