The 2nd of February is nationally celebrated as Youth day in Azerbaijan according to the Decree signed by the President, Haydar Aliyev in 1997. Since that day, each year numerous events are conducted in the country where the young people actively participate. On this occasion by the initiative of Azerbaijani Ombudsman many events were organized in different regions of the country with participation of the young people.

Talks with UN officials in Geneva
IOI Secretary General Kräuter and IOI Board Member Mtro. González Pérez took the opportunity of the annual meeting of the Global Alliance of NHRIs (GANHRI) to drive forward the IOI’s efforts to forge closer ties with United Nations. During the annual conference, which was held from 4 – 6 March at the UN in Geneva, fruitful talks with UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet, and Mr Coly Seck, President of the Human Rights Council were held.

Manitoba Ombudsman releases a report under PHIA about a privacy breach related to MRI services
Manitoba Ombudsman has released an investigation report under the Personal Health Information Act (PHIA) related to the unauthorized disclosure of personal health information of 91 patients who received magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans within the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA) between 2008 and 2016. The patients’ health information was disclosed in violation of PHIA to several media organizations.

Ombudsman for Bermuda elected new Caribbean Director and Regional President of IOI
The Ombudsman for Bermuda, Ms Victoria Pearman, has been elected to represent the Caribbean and Latin America as Caribbean Director of the IOI. She will serve as Regional President for the IOI’s Caribbean & Latin American Region. In this role, she will participate in meetings of the IOI Executive Committee and work closely with the two Directors for Latin America to manage regional matters and coordinate activities.

The dataset from FRA’s second antisemitism survey is now available for further use by researchers. The dataset contains a wealth of information from over 16,000 Jews in 12 EU Member States about their perceptions and experiences of antisemitism.
