AUSTRALIA | Victorian Ombudsman begins investigation into credit card use at Warrnambook City Council

Victorian Ombudsman Deborah Glass has begun investigating the use and authorisation of corporate credit cards at Warrnambool City Council.

The investigation follows media reports that a former Council manager resigned earlier this year after misusing a Council credit card.

Ms Glass said her investigation would look into actions taken by the Council, and the controls it had in place, to protect public money.

She will not be commenting on the investigation until it is complete, at which time she will release a report publicly.

“To restore community trust, we need to get to the bottom of what has occurred and ensure the appropriate controls are in place to protect public money,” Ms Glass said.
