2025-10-24The Catalan deputy for children, newly elected president of the ENOC Bureau
The Catalan deputy for the defence of children's and adolescents' rights, Aida C. Rodríguez, has been elected president-elect of the European Network of Ombudspersons for Children (ENOC) for the 2025/2026 term. The election and assumption of office took place during the 29th General Assembly in Bucharest, Romania. Next year, the deputy will assume the presidency of the Bureau and Catalonia will organise and host the 30th ENOC General Assembly.

In a symbolic moment held in the Blue Zone at COP30, the Federal Public Defenders' Office, represented by Federal Public Defender-General Leonardo Magalhães, officially delivered two international documents to the Presidency of the United Nations Climate Change Conference. The documents delivered – the DPU Declaration on the Need for a Comprehensive Anti-Discrimination Law in Brazil and the RINDHCA-DPU Declaration of Principles on Human Rights and Climate Action – synthesize a joint effort of international and regional cooperation aimed at strengthening the integration between human rights and climate policies.

The Office of the Commissioner for Fundamental Rights of Hungary has successfully implemented the IOI-supported regional subsidy project “Connecting Ombudsman Procedures and Citizens”. The two-phase initiative aimed at strengthening public awareness of the Ombudsman’s work, particularly in the field of disability rights, and at familiarizing the public with the network of newly established regional offices.

2025-10-29NPM Workshop in Oslo
The IOI is pleased to continue the successful training series for Ombudsman with NPM mandate. The next NPM training will be hosted by the Office of the Parliamentary Ombud of Norway and held in Oslo from 9 – 11 February 2026. It will be delivered by the APT and deal with preventive monitoring in mental health institutions, as well as creating change for NPMs who have been monitoring for years.
