2025-12-03Ombudsman finds maladministration in how Commission prepared urgent legislative proposals
European Ombudswoman Teresa Anjinho has found a number of procedural shortcomings in how the European Commission prepared several legislative proposals that it considered urgent. Taken together the shortcomings amounted to maladministration. The findings are based on three separate complaint-based inquiries that examined the extent to which the Commission applied the standard policy-making rules and procedures when preparing legislative drafts concerning corporate sustainability due diligence (Omnibus I), the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), and countering migrant smuggling.

However, neither the federal government nor the federal states are fulfilling this obligation. Ombudsman Achitz therefore calls for a strategy to give people with disabilities equal access to a self-determined life and inclusion.

2025-11-27Ombudsman commends public officers and calls on public to vote in Legislative Council General Election
At the 28th Presentation Ceremony of the Ombudsman’s Awards on 18 November 2025, the Ombudsman, Mr Jack Chan, presented the Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards for Public Organisations to the Housing Department, the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department, and the Correctional Services Department, respectively. He also honoured the Transport Department with the Award on Mediation, the Drainage Services Department with the Information Technology Application and Creativity Award, and the Digital Policy Office with the Customer Services Award. Additionally, 10 teams were recognised with the Team Awards, and 80 public officers received the Individual Awards.

The Office of the Ombudsman Punjab, took decisive action against the long-standing delays in payments owed to multiple stationery supplier companies of Punjab. The companies had approached the Ombudsman Office with complaints regarding delayed dues from various provincial departments, citing procedural hurdles and administrative bottlenecks.

The Office of the Provincial Ombudsman Sindh and Transparency International Pakistan have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 11th November, 2025 to strengthen transparency, promote good governance, and ensure better, free, and speedy justice for citizens across Sindh. The signing ceremony, held at the POS Headquarters, was led by Provincial Ombudsman Sindh Mr. Muhammad Sohail Rajput and Chairman TI-Pakistan Justice (R) Zia Pervez, and attended by senior officials from both institutions.
