On 22 January 2013, Prof. Anastasiu Crisu was appointed as the People´s Advocate of Romania for a five year term by the Romanian Parliament.

On 29 January 2013, the newly established Greek Local Ombudspersons Network adopted a second resolution on the institutional status of the network.

On February 4 and 5, the ombudspersons of Antwerp, Athens, Barcelona, Groningen, Paris, Rotterdam, The Hague and Zurich met with the ombudsman of Amsterdam to discuss shared points of interest in setting up a network for local ombudsmen.

The 10^th IOI World Conference paved the way for further strengthening the IOI as the leading organization within the international Ombudsman community. The IOI By-laws as adopted by the General Assembly are now available online.

The Ombudsman of the Basque Country (“Ararteko”) and the European Region of the IOI jointly organize a seminar on “The Right to Gender Identity and Affective-Sexual Diversity. Challenges for Equality” in order to foster reflection and dialogue about the human rights to gender identity and sexual orientation.
