The British and Irish Ombudsman Association (BIOA) recently published its Annual Report 2011. The report covers the various events the Association has been organizing in the past year. Further topics are the external relations of the Association, its current work program as well an introduction to the six special interest groups of the Association.

The Office of the Complaints Commissioner of the Cayman Islands recently published an Own Motion Investigation focusing on health and safety at work. The report scrutinizes the state of health and safety in the construction industry in the Cayman Islands – a regulatory infrastructure which, if not improved, could collapse at any moment.

On 7 August 2012 the Ombudsman of Nova Scotia released his peort on the Cumberland Regional Development Authority.

The Inspectorate of Government, Uganda is happy to inform the international ombudsman community that the institution has got a new Inspector General of Government (IGG) Her Lordship, Lady Justice Irene Mulyagonja Kakooza.  Lady Justice Mulyagonja has been a Judge with the Commercial Division of the High Court. 

The National Investigations Symposium is a biennial event for public sector investigators and complaint-handlers run by the Independent Commission Against Corruption, NSW Ombudsman and the Institute of Public Administration Australia (NSW Division).

The National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia re-elected Mr Saša Jankovic as Protector of Citizens (Ombudsman). Mr Jankovic was elected for a new five-year term with the consensus of all parliamentary parties.

The Commissioner for Fundamental Rights has asked the Constitutional Court to examine the provisions of the Act on Public Education and to overview the Act on Vocational Training. Failing the necessary preparation period because of the short time until the entering into force of the two Acts the principle of the rule of law might be hurt.

The Seimas Ombudsmen recently published the Annual Report as well as an English summary of the activities of the institution.
