He found that there are serious gaps in the NSW Government’s response to the health risks posed by asbestos and how it can be handled and disposed of safely.     City Acted Unfairly in Cancelling Park Permit

    Toronto, May 19, 2017 – Ombudsman Toronto released its Investigation Report into How the City of Toronto's Parks Forestry and Recreation Division (PF&R) handled a Park Permit. The investigation revealed a lack of fair process when the City quickly cancelled a permit after neighbours complained. Ombudsman Toronto made eight recommendations to ensure fairness in how the City handles park permits, all of which PF&R accepted.

    Public Defender appeals to Venice Commission

    The Public Defender of Georgia, Mr Ucha Nanuashvili, has addressed the Venice Commission concerning the draft amendments to the Constitution of Georgia, which had not been taken into account within the framework of the State’s Constitutional Commission, during the evaluating period. In his letter the Public Defender focuses on the amendments aimed at weakening the standards of protection and implementation of fundamental human rights and freedoms enshrined in the current edition of the Constitution.
