Adam Bodnar attended meeting of the Ombudspersons of the Visegrad Group countries
In the Czech city of Brno, an annual V4 meeting was held of ombudspersons from Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary. In the adopted declaration "Human Rights for Everyone", the Visegrad Group ombudspersons emphasized their common goals and values, as well as the significance of the institution of ombudsman maintaining independence of the authorities. Thanks to such independence, the ombudspersons may support ordinary people in their conflicts with the state.

Québec Ombudsman investigates major violations in the handling of a disclosure
On June 13, 2019, the Québec Ombudsman released a special report on the numerous violations by the Ministère de l’Agriculture, des Pêcheries et de l’Alimentation (MAPAQ) in applying the Act to facilitate the disclosure of wrongdoings relating to public bodies. It dealt with deficiencies concerning the internal process for handling disclosures.

As one of the preventive measures against the spread of coronavirus, especially because of those who frequently violate the self-isolation measure, the Government has proposed amendments to the Electronic Communications Act to monitor citizens’ movements. It would allow location data to be collected, which may restrict citizens’ rights to freedom of movement and privacy.
