On April 22, 2024, the Public Defender of Georgia presented the 9th annual report on the situation of equality. The report provides an overview of the obstacles faced by women, persons with disabilities, representatives of religious and ethnic minorities, members of the LGBTIQ+ community and other vulnerable groups in terms of the realization of the right to equality in various fields during 2023. The report also provides information about the activities carried out and decisions made by the Public Defender of Georgia for the protection of the right to equality.

Hospital treatment delay led to avoidable death of man with disabilities
A 45-year-old man with disabilities was referred to hospital for intravenous antibiotics but had to wait 34 hours for the medication. By the time he received the antibiotics it was too late and he died from sepsis. The Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman found that his death was avoidable.

La Defensoría del Pueblo advierte que más de 824 mil personas en todo el territorio nacional podrían verse afectadas en su integridad y en sus medios de subsistencia, debido a la baja ejecución de los presupuestos que han sido destinados para mitigar los efectos de las heladas y friaje. En ese sentido, instó a los tres niveles de gobierno a intervenir de manera oportuna y eficiente en aquellas zonas en las que la población esté más expuesta a dichos fenómenos naturales.

A growing number of agencies complying with the NSW Public Interest Disclosures Act 2022 but more needs to be done
The NSW Ombudsman tabled the Public Interest Disclosures (PID) Act 2022: Agency self-assessment audit report 2025 in the Parliament of NSW on 11 December 2025. Following commencement of the PID Act in 2023, the institution conducted self-assessment audits in both 2024 and 2025 to test agency compliance with certain key requirements of the PID Act. This report details important findings from these audits.

Ombudsman Office at the UN in Geneva: Austria must improve the situation of underage refugees
On 25 and 26 November 2025, the Austrian Ombudsman Board took part in the UPR pre-session in Geneva. Among other things, it called for improvements for unaccompanied minor refugees (UMF) and criticised staff and budget shortages in the execution of sentences and measures.

Le 20 mars 2019, comme chaque année, 300 millions de francophones répartis sur les 5 continents fêtent leur langue en partage et leur diversité, à l’occasion de la Journée internationale de la Francophonie. L’Association des Ombudsmans et Médiateurs de la Francophonie (AOMF) est l’un des réseaux institutionnels membre de l’OIF. Elle a fêté ses 20 ans d’existence le 20 mai 2018.

Con el fin de promover el intercambio transnacional en materia de supervisión y derechos humanos, el Yuan de Control y la Defensoría del Pueblo de Paraguay organizaron conjuntamente, el 24 de noviembre de 2025, el seminario internacional en línea IA y Derechos Humanos. Al evento fueron invitados representantes de instituciones de supervisión y derechos humanos de la región latinoamericana, así como funcionarios gubernamentales; en total participaron en línea más de 100 asistentes provenientes de seis países.

L'Institution du Médiateur du Royaume signe une convention d'adhésion au Portail National du Droit d'Accès à l'Information
Le Médiateur du Royaume, Dr. Hassane Tariq, et M. Omar Seghrouchni, Président de la Commission pour le Droit d'Accès à l'Information (CDAI), se sont réunis lundi après-midi 1er décembre 2025, au siège de l'Institution du Médiateur. Cette rencontre était consacrée à l'examen des moyens de renforcer la coopération entre les deux institutions dans les domaines de la consolidation de la transparence de l'administration publique et de la consécration du droit des usagers à l'accès à l'information.

Over 10 months of 2023, the Ombudsman and Public Groups conducted 452 monitoring visits to places of detention. In the period of 10 months of 2022, this figure was 297.
