Lockdowns and other restrictions continued to force changes in the support they could give rightsholders and to their working practices. Yet they adjusted. NHRIs’ wide-ranging achievements in these difficult circumstances – a testament to their flexibility and resilience – are captured in ENNHRI’s Annual Report 2021.

On August 10, 2022, Mr. Somsak Suwansujarit, the Chief Ombudsman of Thailand and Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, the governor of Bangkok, jointly signed a collaborative MOU between the Office of the Ombudsman and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA).

Ombudsman’s message to mark the International Ombudsman Day
Today the 14th Ocober,2021 marks the fourth annual International Ombudsman Day. The second Thursday of every October was first set aside by the American Bar Association in 2018 to recognize the ombudsman institution which over the years has remained hidden and underutilized despite being one of the oldest institutions in existence. The date has since been adopted by the International Ombudsman Association.

The Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman has published its Annual Report and Accounts 2020-21, welcoming the resilience of its staff in a challenging year for everyone. Solving problems during the pandemic of Covid-19 in 2020
The Chief Ombudsman of Thailand received several complaints related to preventive or support strategies in the pandemic of Covid-19. The main focus was put on relief measure to “leave no one behind”, assistance from the Telecommunication Sector to support people working from home during the pandemic, and the general shortage of medical equipment.

Human Rights Commission receives vehicles to monitor activities in the regions
Mrs. Ana Sánchez, ARAP’s Team Leader, handed over today two vehicles to Mr. Joseph Whittal, the Commissioner of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ). ARAP, an EU-funded programme, implemented by the Spanish public foundation FIIAPP has been supporting the Commission during the last four years.
