2019-03-28Avoidable eye removal surgery after failure to treat infection
A man lost his eye due to NHS failures in treating an eye infection, causing him significant distress and leaving him unable to work or drive. An investigation by the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO) has found that the failure to diagnose and treat the complainant’s eye infection correctly, meant that it became untreatable and, as a result, he had to have one eye surgically removed.

The Control Yuan (CY) carried out an investigation after receiving a complaint by a citizen claiming he was being deprived of his right to work by being prohibited for life from holding a taxi driver’s license due to a conviction for attempted murder, despite having already served his prison sentence. The right to work is the right of each citizen to earn a living to survive and should be protected by the government.

Le 15 mars 2023, le Défenseur des droits publie une étude intitulée « L’expérience du racisme et des discriminations des personnes originaires d’Asie de l’Est et du Sud-Est en France (REACTAsie) ». Cette étude, menée par des chercheurs du Réseau de recherche pluridisciplinaire « Migrations de l’Asie de l’Est et du Sud-Est en France » (MAF), vise notamment à documenter les expériences de racisme et de discriminations subies par ces personnes en France.
