    School items donated to children in need

    Based on the initiative of Commissioner for Fundamental Rights Dr. Ákos Kozma, the agencies and organizations – such as the Hungarian Prison Service, the Police and the state-owned forest enterprises – participating in the renovation and refurbishment-related programme aimed at several residential child care communities donated school supplies to the residents of these facilities, including the ones that had been renovated through mutual effort.

    The Ombudsman presents the Ombudsplan 2025 to Parliament

    Pursuant to Section 10(4) of the Ombudsman Act 1995, the Ombudsman, Judge Emeritus Joseph Zammit McKeon, has submitted the Ombudsplan 2025 to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Hon. Anġlu Farrugia. The Ombudsplan 2025 sets out the planned activities and initiatives that the Office of the Ombudsman aims to undertake in the coming year. It also provides Parliament with an update on the concerns raised in the previous year’s Ombudsplan.

    The Office of the Ombudsman opened its third Ombudsman Assistance Center (OAC) at the DoubleDragon Plaza in Pasay City on 22 August 2024. Intended to cater to walk-in clients for the filing of complaints and Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth including the processing of Ombudsman clearance, the OAC is designed to provide responsive and streamlined frontline services.

    Pregnant woman turned away after Ealing council uses outdated definition of domestic abuse, Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman says

    Ealing council wrongly turned away a pregnant woman who approached it for help with housing, despite police and other agencies saying it was not safe for her to return to her tenancy in another area. The Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman was asked to investigate. It found the council used an outdated, narrow definition of domestic abuse, limiting it to physical attacks.

    The Wafaqi Mohtasib Pakistan, Mr. Ejaz Ahmed Qureshi, has said that all the Ombudsmen are working in their respective jurisdictions with a commitment to resolve the grievances of the general public speedily. On 31 August 2024, these remarks were made by Mr. Qureshi while inaugurating the Annual Conference of Banking Mohtasib Pakistan with the "Focus on Values in Public Sector Services" at a local hotel in Karachi.

    Ombudsman fetes student leaders as integrity champions

    The Office of the Ombudsman recognized integrity champions of the youth during its Campus Integrity Crusaders Awards Ceremony on 30 August 2024.
