NIPSO publishes report on communications with patients on healthcare waiting lists
An Northern Ireland Public Service Ombudsman report, released on 15 June 2023, has found that the significant and repeated failures to properly update patients on healthcare waiting lists in Northern Ireland amounted to ‘systemic maladministration’, and in many cases had a detrimental impact on the health and wellbeing of those waiting.

The event was presided over by the President of the Republic of Malawi, His Excellency Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, and it aimed at examining how the country is performing on the doctrine of Separation of Powers.

The Victorian Ombudsman releases a report on unequal service to Victorian workers delivered by self-insurers
Victoria’s workers compensation scheme has come under much scrutiny from the Victorian Ombudsman over the years, resulting in significant reforms. But the latest report "WorkSafe 3: Investigation into Victorian self-insurers’ claims management and WorkSafe oversight" highlights the shortcomings of self-insurers - private companies that manage workers compensation themselves - which have not previously been scrutinised by the Ombudsman.

2022 Annual Report of the Parliamentary Ombudsman available in English
On 19 June 2023, the Danish Parliamentary Ombudsman published its Annual report 2022 in English. Among others, the report focuses on its monitoring visits to psychiatric wards and the use of force and various forms of non-statutory interventions towards psychiatric patients. It also contains an article on the 10th anniversary on the Ombudsman's Children's Division.

Croatian Parliament Adopts Ombudswoman’s 2021 Annual Report
On June 2, 2023, in its plenary session, the Croatian Parliament discussed, and on June 7, 2023, adopted the Ombudswoman’s Annual Report for 2021, thus expressing support for the recommendations contained therein aimed at stronger protection of human rights in Croatia. At the same time, it was emphasized that it would be extremely important for the Croatian Parliament to discuss and adopt the new 2022 Annual Report, submitted in March, as soon as possible, as this would contribute to a higher level of the recommendations’ fulfillment.

Former Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman honoured by King
Former Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman Michael King has been awarded a CBE in His Majesty the King’s Birthday Honours, announced 19 June 2023. Mr King served as the Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman from 2017 to March 2023, having previously been the organisation’s Chief Executive and serving more than 30 years in the public sector including as a trading standards officer.

PEI’s Ombudsperson welcomes expansion of jurisdiction to include post-secondary institutions
In the wake of concerns raised in a recently released report commissioned by UPEI which reviewed the University’s practices and processes with respect to harassment, discrimination and fair treatment, the Legislative Assembly has amended the Ombudsperson Act to grant jurisdiction to the Ombudsperson over post-secondary institutions.

The “2022 Annual Report of the Control Yuan,” the latest yearly record, has been published. Over the course of 2022, the CY received 14,207 people’s complaints, issued 282 investigation reports, passed 27 impeachment cases, and proposed corrective measures in 108 cases.

The Ombudsperson for Children holds two-day workshop on the situation of children in conflict with the law and deprived of their liberty
The Office of the Ombudsperson for Children invites Ombudsman and Mediator Institutions affiliated with the International Ombudsman Institute to participate in a 2-day Workshop on the theme “The role of Ombudsman and Mediators in monitoring the situation of children in conflict with the law and deprived of their liberty” to be held in the Republic of Mauritius on 5 and 6 September 2023. This workshop is mainly financed by the International Ombudsman Institute under the IOI Regional Subsidy Programme.

German Petitions Committee visits the Austrian Ombudsman Board
On Thursday, 29 June 2023, Ombudsperson Gaby Schwarz and Ombudsman Walter Rosenkranz welcomed four members of the Petitions Committee of the German Bundestag at the Austrian Ombudsman Board. The aim of the visit of the delegation, which visited Austria as second country as part of a study trip, was to exchange experiences with the Austrian Ombudsman Board on the differences between the Austrian and the German systems of complaint handling bodies for citizens.
