Human rights in places of detention – how Poland is implementing recommendations the international bodies for the prevention of torture
National Mechanism for the Prevention of Torture visited some places of detention that had been visited by the SPT and CPT delegations during their last periodic visits (in 2017 by the CPT and in 2018 by the SPT). The NMPT visits were thematic ones and focused on verifying the recommendations of the monitoring bodies.

The Public Services Ombudsman for Wales reviewed the "Principles of Good Administration" published by the Office in 2016. The Chief Ombudsman of Thailand received several complaints related to preventive or support strategies in the pandemic of Covid-19. The main focus was put on relief measure to “leave no one behind”, assistance from the Telecommunication Sector to support people working from home during the pandemic, and the general shortage of medical equipment.

Commissioner Stylianou - Lottides submits Annual Reports 2020 to the President of the Republic of Cyprus

Canadian Council of Parliamentary Ombudsman welcomes Prince Edward Island's first Ombudsperson
Prince Edward Island’s (PEI) becomes the latest province to appoint an independent officer responsible for ensuring fairness and providing a safe avenue for whistleblower complaints in the public service. Sandy Hermiston will take office as the province’s first Ombudsperson and Public Interest Disclosure Commissioner on 14 February 2022. The Canadian Council of Parliamentary Ombudsman (CCPO) warmly welcomes the news.

On 1 February 2022, Ms Adele Squillaci took office as the new Ombudsman of the Valle d'Aosta. Ms Squillaci was elected by the Regional Assembly at its meeting of 12 January 2022 for a five year term. She succeeds Ombudsman Enrico Formento Dojot.

Western Australia Ombudsman appointed for a further five-year-term
Chris Field, Western Australian Ombudsman and President of the International Ombudsman Institute has been appointed for a further five-year term. It is absolutely vital that an Ombudsman is utterly apolitical and impartial. It is therefore particularly pleasing that Mr Field was first appointed for a five-year term in 2007 under the Carpenter Labor Government, twice reappointed under the Barnett Liberal Government and now reappointed under the McGowan Labor Government.
