El 4 de marzo de 2026, el Defensor del Pueblo, Ángel Gabilondo, ha instado en un acto organizado con motivo del Día Internacional de la Mujer, “a no claudicar ante las trabas a la igualdad entre hombres y mujeres”. La institución ha conmemorado el Día de la Mujer que se celebra el próximo 8 de marzo con un `Un diálogo entre generaciones´ en el que tres mujeres, de tres generaciones diferentes, han debatido sobre los retos y dificultades a los que se han enfrentado a lo largo de su vida por el hecho de ser mujeres, y los obstáculos que, a su juicio, siguen existiendo a día de hoy.

Student Ambassador Programme of the Office of the Ombudsman Punjab
Under the leadership of Ms. Ayesha Hamid, Ombudsman Punjab and First Vice President of the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI), the Office of the Ombudsman Punjab launched the Student Ambassador Programme to strengthen youth engagement and public awareness regarding administrative justice and citizens’ rights. The programme was inaugurated on 11 and 13 February 2026 at the Regional Office Multan, bringing together university students to serve as ambassadors of awareness within their academic institutions and communities.

In the run-up to International Women's Day, the Austrian Ombudsman Board and the Stiftung Forum Verfassung launched a follow-up format to the lecture series "One in Five", which was organised by MedUni Vienna in previous years. Students of social work and people in training for other social professions as well as representatives of civil society organisations came to the event centre of the Constitutional Court for an expert event on preventing violence against women.

On 20 February 2026, the Ombudsperson Institution organized a roundtable discussion in Prishtina entitled The Impact of the Ombudsperson in Advancing the Protection of Community Rights in Kosovo, in cooperation with the Advocacy Center for Democratic Culture. The event gathered representatives of public institutions, civil society organizations, international partners and community representatives to discuss progress, challenges and the way forward in ensuring the effective protection of the rights of non-majority communities.

Deputy Ombudswoman Tatjana Vlašić participated in an international conference on 10 February 2026, dedicated to older persons living with dementia. The event was particularly significant because it included speakers who are themselves living with this diagnosis.

Hace 20 años que un colectivo de personas migrantes se encerró en iglesias para pedir la regularización de su situación en España. El síndic Cañellas actuó como mediador y participó en el acuerdo con la Delegación del Gobierno. Hoy, el síndic Ribó recuerda que algunos derechos de este colectivo aún no están garantizados.

Más de la mitad de los municipios en zona de emergencia nuclear no disponen del Plan de actuación
Más de la mitad de los municipios catalanes expuestos al riesgo de una emergencia nuclear (el 55,8 %) no tienen aprobado el Plan de actuación municipal de emergencia nuclear (PAMEN). Esto afecta a 58 municipios de un total de 104, todos ellos situados a una distancia de entre 10 y 30 kilómetros de las centrales nucleares de Ascó o Vandellòs (en la zona 2 según la delimitación del Plan de emergencia nuclear exterior –PENTA– aprobado por el Gobierno español). Estos datos se recogen en el informe Evaluación de los planes de actuación municipal de emergencia nuclear, que la síndica ha entregado esta mañana al Parlamento catalán y ha remitido a los municipios analizados y al Gobierno de Cataluña.

NSW Ombudsman investigation finds statutory failings in DCJ handling of ROSH reports
A newly released NSW Ombudsman investigation has denounced DCJ’s longstanding practice of closing ROSH reports on the stated basis that it has inadequate resourcing to undertake the necessary investigation and assessment of risk. “No Capacity to Allocate” – The Department of Communities and Justice’s practice of closing ROSH (Risk of Significant Harm) reports found this practice is contrary to DCJ’s statutory responsibilities, but has become ingrained as ‘business as usual’.

She stressed the importance of clear and transparent communication from water companies.
