The People's Advocate (Albanian Ombudsman) has prepared special reports with regard to the Roma Community in Albania as well as the protection of LGBT rights. Both reports are now available in English.

Arlene Brock, Ombudsman for Bermuda, is launching a systematic investigation into the Corporation of Hamilton on her own motion as allegations were brought to her office including lack of transparency and inadequate governance, particularly regarding a proposed waterfront development project.

The Office of the Ombudsman of Thailand in cooperation with the IOI and the Asian Ombudsman Association (AOA) will host an international seminar and training workshop in Bangkok from 3 to 6 April 2013.

The Scottish Public Services Ombudsman (SPSO) laid four investigation reports before the Scottish Parliament: three about health boards and one about a local authority. The Ombudsman also laid a report on 72 decisions about all of the sectors under its remit.

NSW Ombudsman tabled a biennial report to Parliament concerning his review of the deaths of 77 children in 2010 and 2011. Under the Community Services Act 1993, the Ombudsman is required to review the deaths of children that occur as a result of abuse or neglect.

On 30 November 2012 the Ombudsman of the Republic of Latvia sent a letter to international stakeholders in the field of human rights drawing attention the risk of poverty in Latvia. On 8 March 2013, the Prime Minister of Latvia issued a statement commenting on this topic.

The Ombudsman presented his Report on State Social Care Centers for Adults with Mental Impairments. In total 30 inspection visits to long-term social care and rehabilitation institutions were conducted by the Ombusdman.

Regarding the Government’s initial response to the Mid Staffordshire NHS Public Inquiry Report, Ombudsman Mellor stated that significant change is required and that the government’s response was an important first step.
