The Commonwealth Ombudsman facilitated a successful online complaint handling forum on “Harnessing the Value of Complaints” in May 2021, which was attended by over 400 participants from across Australia and the Pacific.

El Defensor del Pueblo andaluz, Jesús Maeztu, ha incorporado a su queja de oficio sobre la situación de las residencias de mayores en Andalucía desde el inicio de la pandemia, una investigación específica por los últimos brotes por Covid en residencias de Alcalá de Guadaíra, Sevilla y Écija, en estos últimos casos, con el lamentable suceso del fallecimiento de varias personas residentes.

The Ombudsman of South Australia (SA) conducted an investigation into the actions of the council as the retailer of electricity and water to Aboriginal community members in Coober Pedy. The Ombudsman concluded that the council inappropriately managed electricity and water accounts and debts in a manner that was unjust, unreasonable, wrong and contrary to law.

Dr. Marcin Wiącek, who was elected as the new Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of Poland on 23 July 2021, took office. He succeeds Mr Adam Bodnar, who completed his term of office earlier this year.

Dudley council has agreed to refund care home top-up fees for concerned families whose relatives were not offered an affordable placement, because of a Local Government and Social Care Ombudsman investigation. The agreement has come following a complaint from a man about care home top-up fees he paid for his mother’s care.
