The Ombudsman of Hong Kong, Ms Winnie Chiu, on August 31 announced the launch of a direct investigation to examine the Government's regulation of illegal occupation or obstruction of streets by goods and miscellaneous articles.

Mr Munish Ramlal has been appointed as the new Municipal Ombudsman of Amsterdam by the city council. He follows Arre Zuurmond, who retired from the office earlier this year.

La Comisión Nacional de Derechos Humanos publicó el primer informe de investigación sobre derechos humanos el 14 de julio de 2021. Durante el régimen autoritario, el Gobierno utilizó sanciones administrativas, como las emitidas por vandalismo, para eludir procedimientos judiciales y restringir la libertad personal de los disidentes, algo inconsistente con el sistema legal actual de la justicia transicional, por lo que las víctimas no podían obtener compensación.
