    40th Anniversary celebrations start with side event at UN headquarters in New York

    On 30 April 2018 the IOI organized a side event at the Headquarters of the United Nations in New York to mark the 40th anniversary of its establishment in 1978. The event provided a platform for exchange between the United Nations and the Ombudsman community, as well as the perfect setting for the launch of the IOI’s most recent publication on “A Mission to Justice – The International Ombudsman Institute 1978-2018”.

    The Milli Mejlis adopted annual report of Ombudsman

    The Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan Elmira Suleymanova presented an annual report for 2017 to the Country Parliament on April 24. The 2017 Annual Report was prepared on the basis of appeals, petitions, proposals and complaints; different cases, problems and challenges disclosed during the visits of the Commissioner and staff members of the Office to penitenciaries, among other places, meetings with the population in regions and investigations carried out there; as well as official responses and attitudes of state agencies and authorities.

    The Parliamentary Ombudsman, Mr Anthony C. Mifsud, called upon the President of the House of Representatives, the Hon. During the meeting with the Speaker, the Ombudsman announced that during the Annual General Meeting of the Association of Mediterranean Ombudsman in Skopje, Macedonia, he was appointed as Secretary General of the Association.

The service provides transportation for approximately 7,500 clients who are unable to use the fixed-route transit system because they are legally blind or have a physical disability that significantly impairs their mobility.
