2022 Report on the Implementation of the National Prevention of Torture
The Seimas Ombudspersons' Office published a Report on the National Prevention of Torture, which presents key observations and provides recommendations and changes achieved in 2022. The inspections of the places of detention identified in the report have revealed substantial violations of human rights and freedoms and other systemic problems.

Ombuds Institutions of Luxembourg, Belgium, and the Netherlands Meet in Brussels
On 22 and 23 September 2025, the ombuds institutions of the Benelux countries gathered in Brussels for their annual meeting to discuss key regional issues. During the meeting, the group welcomed two new ombudsmen: Claudine Konsbruck, the Ombudsman of Luxembourg, and Nicolas Lagasse, the new Médiateur de la Wallonie et de la Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles.

Toronto’s First Deputy Ombudsman to tackle systemic barriers to housing
On 20 July 2023, Ombudsman Kwame Addo announced that Reema Patel will be Toronto's first Deputy Ombudsman. Leading a new housing unit at Ombudsman Toronto, Patel will oversee the fairness of the City of Toronto's housing policies and programs. Patel will officially join the Ombudsman Toronto office on July 31, 2023, at which time she will begin the important work of building the housing unit.

Meeting of the IOI Regional Board in Curaçao
From March 31 to April 2, 2025, the Regional President for the Caribbean and Latin America, Mr. Keursly Concincion—who also serves as the Ombudsman of Curaçao—hosted the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI) Regional Board Meeting in Curaçao.
