The Defender inquired into a complaint where the complainant alleged that his employer was discriminating against employees because of their age. Allegedly, employees over 65 years of age were being offered less favourable contracts as concerned their term, number of working hours and sources of funding.

President Field’s third day in Karachi commenced with a great honour for the President personally, as well as for all Ombudsman and the IOI. Under full ceremonial Naval Guard, a beautifully sung recitation of the Holy Quran and the Naval Band playing the National Anthem of Pakistan, the President laid a floral wreath inscribed with the details of his official visit to Pakistan at the tomb of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the revered founder of Pakistan, laid to rest in the Mazar-e-Quaid mausoleum.

La Procuración Penitenciaria de la Nación (PPN) expresa su preocupación por el incremento de la sobrepoblación carcelaria en el Complejo Penitenciario Federal de la Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires (CPFCABA), ubicado en Villa Devoto. En las últimas semanas, se dispuso el traslado de más de 100 detenidos, sin tener en consideración que esa cárcel federal ya se encontraba sobrepoblada previamente.

2019-03-11Review of school leaving examinations will become more transparent
In recent years, the Czech Ombudsman repeatedly warned about shortcomings in the procedure of the Ministry of Education (hereinafter “the Ministry”) in reviewing the results of school-leaving examinations (the “maturita” exam used in numerous types of secondary schools). Based on the Ombudsman’s comments, the Ministry has amended the so-called “maturita decree” and modified certain procedures and forms so that the students would now have better information on where and how to lodge a complaint.

On Thursday, 2 March 2023, the Seimas Ombudsperson Erika Leonaitė participated in a meeting with the President of the Supreme Administrative Court of Lithuania and judges, who were presented with conducted research on the Aarhus Convention and the right to receive information about the environment, to participate in decision-making as well as the right to apply to courts on environmental matters established therein.
