AZERBAIJAN | Ombudsman held a range of events on child rights

On the occasion of the June 1-International Day for Protection of Children the Azerbaijani Ombudsman held a series of events and met with children in the Rehabilitation Center for Persons with Down syndrome within the Human Rights Month and expressed her best wishes to them.

The Ombudsman also participated at the event held in the “Care” (“Qayğı”) children’s rehabilitation center, which was established at the initiative of Heydar Aliyev Foundation and met the children with cerebral palsy (CP).

It was highlighted the importance of the International Day for Protection of Children, the attention paid to ensuring children’s rights and adoption of laws, state programs in this regard.

It was noted that the Republic of Azerbaijan joined the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), in the very early years of independence, later ratified optional protocols of this international convention and adopted a particular Law on the Rights of the Child.
