La Procuración Penitenciaria de la Nación participó de un seminario web sobre el fortalecimiento de la protección de los derechos humanos mediante la aplicación de normas internacionales en la labor de los Defensores del Pueblo. El encuentro reunió a 313 participantes de 62 países de África, Europa, América, Asia y el Pacífico.

On 4 June 2024, the Office of the Public Protector released a report on the investigations into administrative deficiencies relating to the processing of gender-based violence (GBV) related matters within the South African criminal justice system. The investigation emanates from the administrative challenges faced by the public, particularly women and children, in the South African criminal justice system identified by the Public Protector.

A growing number of agencies complying with the NSW Public Interest Disclosures Act 2022 but more needs to be done
The NSW Ombudsman tabled the Public Interest Disclosures (PID) Act 2022: Agency self-assessment audit report 2025 in the Parliament of NSW on 11 December 2025. Following commencement of the PID Act in 2023, the institution conducted self-assessment audits in both 2024 and 2025 to test agency compliance with certain key requirements of the PID Act. This report details important findings from these audits.

La institución Defensor del Pueblo ha conmemorado el miércoles 10 de diciembre, Día de los Derechos Humanos, con un acto celebrado en su sede con alumnos del instituto público IES Fortuny de Madrid. El evento se ha iniciado con la intervención de la adjunta primera, Teresa Jiménez-Becerril, que ha afirmado que “los derechos humanos no son ideas abstractas, sino que se materializan en cosas muy concretas que nos afectan y os afectan cada día”.

Yuan de Control y Defensoría del Pueblo de Paraguay coorganizan seminario internacional en línea: IA y Derechos Humanos
Con el fin de promover el intercambio transnacional en materia de supervisión y derechos humanos, el Yuan de Control y la Defensoría del Pueblo de Paraguay organizaron conjuntamente, el 24 de noviembre de 2025, el seminario internacional en línea IA y Derechos Humanos. Al evento fueron invitados representantes de instituciones de supervisión y derechos humanos de la región latinoamericana, así como funcionarios gubernamentales; en total participaron en línea más de 100 asistentes provenientes de seis países.

L'Institution du Médiateur du Royaume signe une convention d'adhésion au Portail National du Droit d'Accès à l'Information
Le Médiateur du Royaume, Dr. Hassane Tariq, et M. Omar Seghrouchni, Président de la Commission pour le Droit d'Accès à l'Information (CDAI), se sont réunis lundi après-midi 1er décembre 2025, au siège de l'Institution du Médiateur. Cette rencontre était consacrée à l'examen des moyens de renforcer la coopération entre les deux institutions dans les domaines de la consolidation de la transparence de l'administration publique et de la consécration du droit des usagers à l'accès à l'information.

The Ombudsman investigated, upon his own initiative, three issues arising from the Department for Correctional Services’ (the department) handling of a prisoner with type 1 diabetes. The investigation was instigated on the basis of information received from the Office of the Health and Community Services Complaints Commissioner.

The European Region of the IOI held its quadrennial Conference and General Assembly in Brussels from 1 – 3 October 2018. On the occasion of its 20th anniversary, the event was hosted by the Federal Ombudsman of Belgium, Catherine De Bruecker and Guido Herman, and their office.

Annual Report on the activities of the National Mechanism for the Prevention of Torture in 2022
On 18 December 2022, 20 years had passed since the adoption, by the UN General Assembly, of the Optional Protocol to the UN Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment. Thanks to the implementation of the OPCAT into the Polish legal system, the National Mechanism for the Prevention of Torture has been operating in Poland for nearly 15 years already as part of the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights.

En CDHCM, colectivos de víctimas de violaciones a derechos humanos y organizaciones civiles analizan Ley de Amnistía y beneficios por colaboración
La figura de amnistía no puede representar escenarios de impunidad, especialmente en casos de violaciones graves a derechos humanos, por lo cual existe la preocupación de que se desproteja a las víctimas en su derecho a la reparación del daño. Así lo destacó la Ombudsperson capitalina, Nashieli Ramírez Hernández, al inaugurar el Foro: “Ley de Amnistía y beneficios por colaboración en los casos de violaciones a los derechos humanos en México. Diálogo sobre su aplicabilidad, análisis de los avances, retrocesos y propuestas de medidas para su eficacia”.

La síndica convoca a Gobierno y ayuntamientos a una cumbre para abordar el problema del sinhogarismo
El objetivo de la cumbre es establecer unas nuevas bases para gestionar eficazmente el problema del sinhogarismo y los asentamientos urbanos. La institución ha constatado un crecimiento significativo de personas en situación de extrema vulnerabilidad que viven en la calle, así como la preocupación de los vecinos por el deterioro del espacio público. El encuentro tendrá lugar el 11 de diciembre y se ha convocado a los municipios y entidades de la región metropolitana. Más adelante se ampliará a otras ciudades de todo el país.

The Legislative Assembly of British Columbia has appointed the province’s next Ombudsperson. Sandy Hermiston will begin her term on January 31.
