Se realizó en Córdoba la XIII Asamblea General del ILO
El Instituto Latinoamericano del Ombudsman-Defensorías del Pueblo (ILO), llevó a cabo su XIII Asamblea y Seminario "Defensorías de Derechos Humanos y fortalecimiento democrático" en el Centro de Convenciones "Brigadier General Juan Bautista Bustos", situado en la ciudad de Córdoba, Argentina, los días 16, 17 y 18 de noviembre de 2022.

Ombudsman announces results of direct investigation operation into Government’s work in combating abuse of public housing resources
On 22 Januar 2025, the Ombudsman, Mr Jack Chan, announced the completion of a direct investigation operation into the Government’s work in combating the abuse of public housing resources, with 31 major recommendations for improvement made to the Hong Kong Housing Authority and the Hong Kong Housing Society.

Government interference puts Yukoners rights at risk
The Minister of Finance has declined a request from the Yukon Ombudsman, Information and Privacy Commissioner, and Public Interest Disclosure Commissioner, Jason Pedlar, to cease Government of Yukon’s unprecedented insertion into his budgetary process, and follow the legislated procedures designed to safeguard the independence of his three mandates. The Minister’s response has forced Pedlar to explore legal action to uphold international standards and protect the rights of Yukoners.

Slovak Ombudsman visits Ombudsperson Schwetz
On 21 January 2025, the current Chairperson of the Austrian Ombudsman Board (AOB), Ms. Elisabeth Schwetz, welcomed the Public Defender of Rights of the Slovak Republic, Mr. Róbert Dobrovodský, and his delegation at the premises of the AOB. Mr. Dobrovodský was accompanied by staff members specialised in fundamental rights and NPM matters. The purpose of this inaugural visit was an exchange on thematic areas such as police matters and human rights.

World’s first official international Ombudsman review finds UK service is robust and good value
The first ever peer review undertaken under the auspices of the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI) finds that the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO) delivers an “efficient, enhanced and effective modern service” and provides significant value for stakeholders. It has become a much stronger organisation since a previous independent peer review in 2018.

Invitación al juez Hwang Jau-Yuan a presentar el nuevo sistema procesal constitucional
El 4 de enero de 2022 entró en vigor la enmendada Ley de Procedimiento del Tribunal Constitucional. Para tratar los posibles casos en los que el ejercicio de los poderes del Yuan de Control pudiera dar lugar un control de constitucionalidad o disputas de agencias, el Comité de Asuntos Judiciales y Administración Penitenciaria invitó al juez Hwang Jau-Yuan para ofrecer un discurso especial sobre el nuevo sistema procesal constitucional.
