Hon. Edouard NDUWIMANA, Ombudsman de la République du Burundi, a reçu, vendredi, le 19 juillet 2019, le Diplôme de Doctorat Honoris Causa en Droit, au terme du Sommet de haut niveau organisé conjointement par London Graduate School et Commonwealth University. Les cérémonies relatives à l’élévation à ce titre honorifique se sont déroulées à Jacob’s Garden Hotel, à Dubaï, aux Emirats Arabes Unis.

Taxpayers’ Ombudsperson to monitor and examine issues related to CRA communications about the collection of COVID-related benefit overpayments
On 4 May 2023, the Taxpayers' Ombudsperson, Mr. François Boileau, announced his intention to closely monitor complaints received at his office concerning individuals who have already paid back COVID-related benefit overpayments to the Government of Canada yet are still receiving collection letters from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).

On 8 May 2023, the signing of the MOU on bilateral cooperation between the Chief Ombudsman of Thailand, Mr. Somsak Suwansujarit, and the Chairperson of the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission of the Republic of Korea, Ms. Jeon Hyun-Heui, took place at the Office of the Secretariat of the International Ombudsman Institute in Vienna, in the Republic of Austria.

Ombudsman of Hong Kong presented 2018-19 Annual Report to the public
The Hong Kong Ombudsman, Ms Winnie Chiu, presented to the public today (25 July) the 2018-19 Annual Report of the Office of The Ombudsman. The Office of The Ombudsman (the Office) received 4,991 complaints in 2018-19, slightly higher than the previous year’s figure. Among the complaints received, 205 were concluded by way of full investigation, of which 58 (28.3%) were substantiated or partially substantiated, similar to previous year’s figure of 26.2%.

El Centro de Mediación de la Defensoría del Pueblo de Santa Fe cumple 24 años
Este viernes 5 de julio el Centro de Mediación y Resolución de Conflictos que funciona dentro del ámbito de la Defensoría del Pueblo de la provincia de Santa Fe, Argentina, cumple 24 años de vida. Comenzó a funcionar en 1995, siendo el primero en su tipo en la República Argentina, cuando sus nueve primeros mediadores, que contaban con títulos expedidos por el Ministerio de Justicia de la Nación, fueron matriculados en el Registro Nacional de Mediadores de ese organismo nacional, creado con el fin de poder implementar una ley nacional de mediación.

La Procuración Penitenciaria ha solicitado a la justicia, desde marzo de 2018, el arresto domiciliario de una persona que se encuentra alojada en el Hospital Penitenciario Central (HPC) del CPF 1 de Ezeiza, con un cuadro extremadamente delicado por el padecimiento de un cáncer conocido como Linfoma no Hodgkin (células del manto).
