2020-06-18Ombudsman's Office informs about work in the field of fight against poverty
The Ombudsman of the Republic of Latvia Juris Jansons has already submitted five applications to the Constitutional Court on the unconstitutionality of the amount of several state-determined benefits to vulnerable groups in the fight against poverty. Ombudsman Mr. Juris Jansons pointed out that poverty causes social exclusion, therefore it is the duty of a socially responsible state to create a social assistance system that ensures a dignified standard of living and allows a person to fully integrate into society.

Plateforme internet de l’AOMF regroupant des ressources pédagogiques sur les droits de l’enfant
Afin de renforcer son rôle dans la protection des droits de l’enfant, l’AOMF est dans le processus de création d’une plateforme « Ressources pédagogiques » sur son site internet. Cette plateforme regroupera des outils pour la protection et la promotion des droits de l’enfant créés par l’AOMF et ses membres, ainsi que des outils créés par des personnes, ONG et institutions extérieures à l’AOMF.

Ombudsman Institution publishes Annual Report 2019
The Ombudsperson's Annual Report, in the spirit of the principles democracy, protection of human rights and rule of law as well as the constitutional and legal mandate, aims to provide a general overview of the challenges in the human rights protection system in the Republic of Kosovo. With particular emphasis on the issues of systematic problems in all three pillars of the power: in legislature, in executive and judiciary, with a strong believe that in this way this Report will serve also as a tool for strengthening democracy in the country.

Application of legal standards developed by the Human Rights Defender of Armenia by Courts of Armenia
Since 2016, the Human Rights Defender has started a new practice of developing jurisprudence and legal standards in decisions related to concrete cases. This procedure is based on the same principles as the case law of the European Court of Human Rights and the Court of Cassation or the Constitutional Court and is an example of how the case law can be developed through the work of the country's legal institutions based on international obligations.

Consultation of the regions on the IOI World Conference Themes
For the 13th IOI World Conference the National Ombudsman of the Netherlands proposed five themes to be discussed during the event. As the institution wanted to learn the views of other regions on the themes, they started online meetings with the IOI regional boards where the latter were invited to share their thoughts and ideas on the themes as viewed from their perspective.

The conference, themed "Through The Ombudsman Looking Glass: Now And Into The Future" was hosted by Victorian Ombudsman Deborah Glass OBE as Regional President.

Ombudsman conducted Mobile Accountability Clinics in Zomba district
In an effort to strengthen transparency and accountability mechanisms at grassroots level the Office of the Ombudsman conducted Mobile Accountability Clinics in Zomba District for two weeks. Through the mobile clinics platform, the Office takes its services to the communities to sensitize and empower people to identify and report suspected acts of Maladministration that are perpetrating injustices.

Training of Ombudsman office on Provincial Decentralised Governance
The Provedor de Justiça (Ombudsman) and senior staff of his Office benefited from training within the framework of the operationalization of the executive bodies of provincial decentralized governance and the bodies representing the State in the Province and the City of Maputo, administered by Dr. Bisa Novela, National Deputy Director of Local Administration Development of the Ministry of State Administration and Civil Service.
