The report on “Preventing torture in Africa: Lessons and experiences from National Human Rights Institutions” marks the end of a three-year project carried out by the Association for the Prevention of Torture (APT) in collaboration with the Network of African National Human Rights Institutions (NANHRI). The project entitled “A Continent United Against Torture” sought to strengthen the role and capacity of African NHRIs to prevent torture.

An NHRIs symposium held on the side-lines of COP26 from 3 - 5 November 2021 aims at providing a greater understanding of the climate regime to facilitate NHRI work to promote and support human rights within climate policy and climate accountability. The event will also be an occasion for NHRIs to discuss and consult on the monitoring and reporting tool on climate change and human rights, which is currently developed by GANHRI.

Report says that despite “beacons of good practice”, too many people at risk of homelessness are victims of “injustice” due to unacceptable delays, inadequate processes, poor communication and placement in unsuitable accommodation. The Public Services Ombudsman for Wales recommends a new Housing Regulator role to assist local authorities in fulfilling their statutory duties consistently.
