PAKISTAN | One Day Awareness Session at District Malakand, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

With the ample support of IOI regarding awareness campaign activities, a one day Awareness Campaign session was held in the Conference room of district secretariat Malakand on 06/05/2026 at 11.00 A.M. Additional Deputy Commissioner, Malakand, officers from line department, Nazimeen, Naib Nazimeen, Village Councilors and a large number of public representatives attended the session. The audience were informed about the purpose of the visit. 

The session started with a detailed lecture by Mr. Muhammad Kamran Ali on historical establishment of the Ombudsman institution and elaborated on its effective mechanism for grievance redressal, which is provided entirely free of cost. He emphasized the institution’s role in ensuring speedy justice for aggrieved individuals and provided a comprehensive explanation of the application process, noting that cases are generally resolved within 6 months without any financial burden on the complainant. 

The participants highly appreciated the visit, especially the awareness program. During the awareness session, several Nazimeen highlighted the issue of the limited number of Khasadar staff at different check posts, which was noticed by the ADC concerned. However, the ADC concerned stated that 100 Khasadar are currently under training, as and when they completed the training, the limited staff issue would be resolved. Similarly, several other issues related to district administration were pointed out, which were noticed on the spot by the officers concerned of the line department.

Due to the awareness campaign, they were informed about the role and responsibilities of the Ombudsman Institution. During the awareness session, the following activities were performed:

  1. Large size Panaflexes with IOI Monogram were displayed on the wall of the Conference room both inside and outside.
  2. Brochures and informative materials were distributed amongst the  audience.
  3. Speeches were delivered about the aim and objectives of the awareness campaign.
  4. Participants were informed about the purpose of the visit. They were also informed as to how a complaint can be lodged, process of investigation and implementation of the recommendations issued by the Ombudsman.
  5. Question / answer session was conducted.
  6. At the end participants were informed about the official social media page of the office to like and follow it, so that updates can be received to them.
