PAKISTAN | Ombudsman Punjab Presents Annual Report 2025

The Office of the Ombudsman Punjab, established in 1996 under the Punjab Office of the Ombudsman Act 1997, presented its Annual Report 2025 on 31 March 2026, highlighting key achievements in administrative justice and public service delivery.

Operating through 39 Regional Offices with 45 Regional Advisors, the institution continues to provide free-of-cost grievance redressal services across the province. Since inception, it has received 519,436 complaints, disposing of 497,282, with an impressive 95.72% disposal rate.

In 2025, the Ombudsman Punjab expanded its outreach by establishing new offices in Talagang, Murree, and Kot Addu, strengthening access to justice at the grassroots level.

A major institutional milestone was the ISO 9001:2015 certification of the Complaint Management Information System (CMIS), reflecting adherence to international quality standards. Pakistan also hosted the IOI Asian Regional Meeting and International Conference in Lahore for the first time, enhancing its global standing in the ombudsman community.

On the international front, Ms. Ayesha Hamid achieved a historic distinction by becoming the first Pakistani woman elected as Regional Director (Asia) and Second Vice President of the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI). Later, ascending to First Vice President of the International Ombudsman Institute (IOI).

To improve accessibility, the Awami Khidmat Mobile Van Programme deployed five mobile units to remote areas, facilitating on-the-spot complaint registration. Citizens can also lodge complaints via the official website, mobile application, postal services, in-person visits, and Helpline 1050.

These initiatives were supported by a province-wide awareness campaign, conducted in collaboration with district administrations and chambers of commerce, further strengthening public engagement and institutional outreach.
