On 11 January 2011 Ms Suzanne Belson, one of the founding members of the Canadian Forum of Ombudsman (FCO), and Mr Steve Olive, Administrator of the FCO visited the I.O.I. General Secretariat.

The newsletter is called African Ombudsmantoday and will be published half-yearly.

The Ombudsman's Commentary gives an overview on the complaints and enquiries handled in December 2010 by the Scottish Public Services Ombudsman.

The survey of complainants’ views compares the survey returns of people who received a decision from the SPSO in the first quarter of this financial year with those who received a decision in the first quarter of last year. 

The Chancellor of Justice carried out a planned inspection to the psychiatric department of the Narva Hospital Foundation. Additionally follow-up to the suggestions made on the basis of last visit on 28 November 2007 was conducted.

The Slovenian Human Rights Ombudswoman Dr. Zdenka Cebasek-Travnik presented a website for young pople and children where they can find information about their rights and how to protect them.

Ms Cecilia Nordenfelt, former Parliamentary Ombudsman, has succeeded Mr. Mats Melin as Chief Parliamentary Ombudsman as from 3 January 2011.

The Polish Ombudswoman Irena Lipowicz is now member of the European Board of the I.O.I. She took over from the Swedish Ombudsman Mats Melin.
