Dr. Ivan Zinger has been appointed as the Acting Correctional Investigator of Canada. The duration of this appointment is for a term of one year or until such time that a new Correctional Investigator is appointed. Mr Zinger followed Howard Sapers, who was appointed Independent Advisor on Corrections Reform to the Ontario provincial government and who had served as the Correctional Investigator from 2004 to 2016.

La elección del trabajo carcelario para este estudio radica en la notoria reconfiguración cuantitativa y cualitativa de las relaciones laborales al interior del sistema penitenciario federal, evidenciada en los últimos años.

The Seimas Ombudsman, Augustinas Normantas, has met with the head of the Prison Department and the governors of prisons. At the beginning of the gathering, Mr. Normantas, the head of the Seimas Ombudsmen's Office, drew the attention of the managers of penitentiaries towards pressing problems in prisons, including poor incarceration conditions.

 

The January issue of “The Ombudsman”, a newsletter published by the Office of the Ethiopian Institution of the Ombudsman (EIO) informs that the EIO is opening two new branches to be more accessible to the public.

The six volume report culminates the largest investigation to have been undertaken by an Ombudsman in Australia.
