Joseph Whittal, the Commissioner of Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), has called for the quick passage of the Aged Bill into law to ensure the effective protection of the rights of the aged. Mr. Whittal made the call in Accra at a Round Table Meeting as part of activities to mark the International Day of Older Persons.

The African Region of the IOI held elections to fill the vacant positions of two African Directors on the IOI Board of Directors as well as the Regional President of IOI Africa. The African Region of the IOI is now full represented by four Directors, as stipulated in the IOI By-laws.

The report, tabled by New South Wales (NSW) Ombudsman Paul Miller, discusses the 24,733 contacts received by the office, including detailed data and general observations about 13,315 actionable complaints. Together, these provide a picture of the issues faced by NSW citizens receiving services from NSW Government agencies, statutory bodies and certain community-service providers, including the government’s response to COVID-19.

En 2019, la Commission parlementaire de l’Action sociale, de la Santé et de la Fonction publique, dans le cadre de l'examen de la pétition intitulée « Vieillir dignement : des moyens supplémentaires pour les personnes avec déficience intellectuelle en service résidentiel », avait décidé de soumettre au Médiateur celle-ci pour avis. Sur base des éléments en sa possession, le Médiateur a décidé d’ouvrir une enquête afin de rendre un avis qui fait sens, auprès des services spécialisés visés.
