On November 10, 2021, the Public Defender of Georgia, together with the European Network of National Human Rights Institutions (ENNHRI), held an international webinar on the theme: "The right to education of persons with disabilities during COVID-19 pandemic”.

Participants spoke about the challenges relating to the exercise of the right to education of persons with disabilities during the pandemic and exchanged views, methodological experiences and best practices on high quality inclusive education.

Québec Ombudsperson Marie Rinfret released her findings on how the COVID-19 crisis in residential and long-term care centres (CHSLDs) was handled during the first wave of the pandemic on November 23, 2021. In her special report tabled in the National Assembly, she made 27 recommendations to the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux and to the Minister aimed at implementing far-reaching measures to act on the causes of the crisis and to improve residents’ living conditions.

We are pleased to inform you about a global consultation conducted by the UN Special Rapporteur on freedom of peaceful assembly and of association, Clément Voule, in partnership with the Global Alliance of NHRIs (GANHRI). This consultation presents an opportunity for NHRIs to provide inputs for a report which the Special Rapporteur is preparing on the protection of human rights in the context of peaceful protests during crisis situations. The report will be presented to the 50^th session of the Human Rights Council.

In his report "Grounded: Unequal access for people with disabilities to personal transport schemes" published today, 23 November 2021, Ombudsman Peter Tyndall says that personal transport supports for people with disabilities are inadequate, unfair and inequitable. 

On the occasion of World Children’s Day, Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights, Dunja Mijatović calls on political leaders to ensure that children’s rights remain firmly on top of their agendas. Council of Europe member states must take all necessary measures to build strong societies for the future. This means investing in children from early childhood on, to ensure their equal access to rights and address rising levels of child poverty.

On 7 November 2021, the Royal Proclamation announced the appointment of Mr. Songsak Saicheua as the Ombudsman of Thailand in replacement of Mr. Boon Tapanadul who vacated his seat.  Mr. Songsak Saicheua will serve a seven-year term from the date of appointment according to section 17 of the Organic Act on Ombudsmen B.E. 2560 (2017) .
