Africa | AOMA received African Peace Award

United Religions Initiative-Africa (URI-Africa) has awarded the African Ombudsman and Mediators Association (AOMA), which Ethiopia is leading as President, in appreciation and acknowledgment of its great contribution to the promotion of good governance, human rights, rule of law, strengthening values of peaceful coexistence in Africa.

On the occasion, Chief Ombudsman of Ethiopia and President of AOMA, Hon. Foziya Amin has spoken to the international peace conference, after receiving recognition award for the association. On her speech, Foziya underlined the award given will encourage the association to work harder for the better achievement of human and democratic rights, good governance and realization of the rule of law in Africa.

Ambassador Muse Hailu, Director of United Religions Initiative Africa, mentioned the initiative has decided to honor AOMA after careful evaluation of its determination and achievement in strengthening good governance, rule of law, human rights and peaceful coexistence in Africa.

Finally, URI-Africa and AOMA signed a bilateral memorandum of understanding to promote good governance, rule of law, human dignity, peaceful coexistence, mutual respect among people of different religions and cultures; counter-violence extremism, and radicalization; on issues of agenda 2063 and SDGS, and other issues in Africa to work together hereafter. The peace conference has taken place in Burundi, Bujumbura on July 6-7, 2017.
