The office of the Western Australian Ombudsman has a special responsibility to ensure that it engages with, and listens to, Aboriginal Western Australians. Representatives from seven independent agencies had the opportunity to speak to, and hear from, Aboriginal Elders and service providers during information sessions held in Western Australia, the first in Perth on 13 May and the second in Mandurah on 14 May 2019.

On 14 December 2023, the Ombudsman, Ms Winnie Chiu, announced the completion of a direct investigation into the regulation by the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (“FEHD”) over the sale of food in hot/cold holding and non-prepackaged beverages by means of vending machines, and made ten recommendations for improvement to FEHD.

2020-04-15Social Care institutions are monitored through Social Media
The Seimas Ombudsman Augustinas Normantas has begun the monitoring of social care homes through social media. Having launched a private Facebook group named "A Quarantine in social care institutions," the Human Rights Division of the Seimas Ombudsmen's Office started monitoring of social care institutions by providing the assistance to caregivers and collecting information on challenges with which the institutions face.

The Annual Report 2022/2023 of the activities of the Chancellor of Justice of Estonia is now available in English. Covering the period from 1 September 2022 to 31 August 2023, the Annual Report encompasses a broad spectrum of topics. It sheds light on the Chancellor's diverse tasks, including serving as the National Human Rights Institution, Ombudsman for Children, National Preventive Mechanism against ill-treatment, and the supervisor of obligations outlined in the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

Online learning and face-to-face training via videoconference. The IOI is pleased to offer its first online training course with a specific focus on media skills. Participants will learn how to approach media interviews with confidence and focus, how to manage difficult questions and how to bring across key messages. 2020-06-10Committee on Human Rights discusses issue of monitoring rights of convicts during a quarantine
At the meeting of the Seimas Committee on Human Rights, the issue of ensuring human rights in the institutions subordinated to the Prison Department during an emergency situation was discussed. During the meeting, Augustinas Normantas, the Head of the Seimas Ombudsmen‘s Office, drew the attention of the participants to the fact that quarantine conditions are currently being mitigated; therefore, it is necessary to talk about quarantine mitigation measures in correctional facilities.

The Ombudsman's Office of the Republic of Latvia has been nominated for the Latvia's 2017 Trafficking in Persons Report Hero. This nomination reflects the work of the Ombudsman's Office in the field of preventing human trafficking.
