ISRAEL | The State Comptroller and Ombudsman publishes a special report on public complaints filed during the first weeks of the emergency situation in Israel

The State Comptroller and Ombudsman Mr. Matanyahu Englman published a special report on the complaints of the public relating to the conduct of the government authorities towards the citizens of Israel during the first weeks of the emergency situation in the country.

According to the special report, in the first 43 days of the emergency situation, 1.329 complaints relating to the situation were received by the Office of the Ombudsman.

A factor common to all the complaints filed was the difficulty encountered by citizens, including those living in the border communities who had been evacuated from their homes, in receiving services from the state authorities. Other issues raised pertaining directly to the situation included safe rooms, the activity of educational institutions, eligibility for special grants and the handling of evacuees.

Some of the complaints were received in the course of visits conducted by staff of the Office of the State Comptroller and Ombudsman to evacuation centers.

The report gives numerous examples of cases relating to the emergency situation that were received by the Office of the Ombudsman.
