On World Down Syndrome Day: Together Against Loneliness
On 20 March 2026, the Colourful as a Butterfly event took place in Krško to mark World Down Syndrome Day. The Human Rights Ombudswoman, Dr Simona Drenik Bavdek, addressed those present. She emphasised that this day provides an opportunity to reflect on the fundamental connectedness between people. She highlighted the importance of meeting and getting to know one another in order to build relationships, as this enables an understanding of an individual’s needs and creates space for support, assistance, and shared well-being.

El martes, el 24 de marzo de 2026, el Defensor del Pueblo, Ángel Gabilondo, ha registrado en las Cortes Generales el Informe anual de la actividad de la institución en 2025, y ha hecho entrega del mismo a la presidenta del Congreso de los Diputados, Francina Armengol. El Informe será entregado el próximo 9 de abril al presidente del Senado, Pedro Rollán, en el Palacio del Senado.

Ombudsman report on mass arrests during the Copenhagen UN climate summit
In December 2009 Copenhagen was host city for the UN climate summit, attended by the world’s political leaders and a very large number of NGOs. A large number of demonstrations was registered with the police. Some organisations had indicated through the press that they might not use only legal methods in connection with the demonstrations – a promise which some of them later fulfilled.

En diciembre de 2009 Copenhague fue la ciudad anfitriona de la cumbre del clima de la ONU, COP 15, a la que asistieron líderes políticos del mundo entero y un gran número de ONGs. Gran parte de las manifestaciones fueron manifestaciones registradas por la policía. Con respecto a las manifestaciones algunas organizaciones anunciaron en la prensa que harían uso no solo de métodos legales – promesa que algunas de ellas cumplieron.

"Los niños, niñas y adolescentes indígenas, tanto de la Amazonía como de la zona andina, no están recibiendo una educación intercultural bilingüe de calidad, lo cual constituye un serio problema en el ámbito educativo de nuestro país", afirmó esta mañana el Defensor del Pueblo (e), Eduardo Vega Luna, durante la presentación del Informe Defensorial N°152, denominado "Aportes para una Política Nacional de Educación Intercultural Bilingüe a favor de los pueblos indígenas del Perú".
